The kids helped me make hot cross buns on Good Friday. I halved the Pioneer Woman's recipe and that made a dozen for our little family. Edmund helped me frost them while the girls were taking their naps.
The next day, I found this curiously-consumed bun, which made me laugh. This is Lavinia's. What child doesn't want to eat the frosting? My funny little daughter!
I'll take the frosting! :-) Those look lovely -- I'm inspired to actually *bake* something now, and that's not an inspiration that hits me very often!
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy to see Edmund so big. Where did the time go, Laura?! It seems like yesterday I was reading of your engagement!
Blessings,
Shannon
I hope that means you're settled in enough to have some free time in the kitchen! I don't do a whole lot of baking, either, but I like traditions.
DeleteYes, the years go by faster and faster... those days when we were unmarried girls, sharing sewing projects on the S&S boards, seem like a lifetime ago! ;-) I actually just pulled out a bunch of my old dresses from those days, to see if I could wear any of them for Easter. Some fit, some didn't, but it was fun to see my "old friends"!ws
Hot cross buns sound so delightfully British! And they look yummy too!
ReplyDeleteMy sister, Allie, is sometimes like Lavinia. She doesn't always want dessert, although she almost always takes delight in eating her veggies. She is truly something else!

Oh, sweet little Allie! Sounds like a dream come true for any mom... A child that loves her veggies!
DeleteShe ate the whole thing into a cross! Happy Easter. :)
