Greensleeves

I was introduced to this version of "Greensleeves" in Christmas 2008, when we were attending a church with a choir (of which I was a part, since Douglas was accompanist... otherwise I don't think they would've let me join, my singing skills being pretty non-existant. Perks of having a talented husband!). ;) It was one of my favorite songs we performed at Christmas that year. Have you ever heard such a hauntingly beautiful descant as in verse two?

  1. Your blog is lovely! Very romantic and the name Edmund brings that to mind as well.

  2. Beautiful! A choral setting really suits "Greensleeves".

  3. So beautiful! We sang this at our carol service a few nights ago - minus the snow; our weather is getting hot here in NZ. The photography brings back memories of the kind of winters we had when my husband was at seminary in Massachusetts, and the ones my daughter in London has now. Much more conducive to plum pudding than our summer Christmas. (But we still have plum pudding anyway).

  4. Jill, how lovely. My husband was just wondering how folks in the southern hemisphere celebrate Christmas. I imagine if you are a transplant it is hard to give up those winter traditions. Plum pudding sounds divine!
