Douglas' new haircut

I've had fun experimenting with a different hairstyle for Douglas over his last two cuts. We've let the top grow out long while keeping the back short, a sort of anti-mullet if you will. The effect is either 1990s or Edwardian, depending on how you look at it. I'll take Edwardian.

He's sooo handsome, I get kind of giddy looking at these photos. Love you, darling! Thanks for letting me have fun with your hair! (And for posing for pictures in a foggy cemetery after church last Sunday!)

Are you doing anything to celebrate St. Valentine's Day? Douglas and I had a special dinner last night, since he is working tonight. I chose to fix dishes that don't take too much preparation, but are still something fun and special. Our menu was as follows:

• organic roasted red pepper and tomato soup with sour cream and dill
  
• Welsh rarebit
  
• brussels sprouts
  
• burgundy mushrooms
  
• Peter Rabbit chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream (so called because the recipe comes from one of my brother's childhood cookbooks)

After dinner, we watched The Young Victoria, which I had been wanting to see for a while. I'm always up for a good costume drama. :)

Two years

Douglas and I celebrated our second anniversary on October 4th. The weather was much like our wedding day -- sunny but not hot, beautiful cloudy skies, trees just beginning to turn. Even though October was not our first choice, I am so glad now that we did get married then. This time of year will be forever special to me now. In honor of the day, here are a few of my favorite wedding shots I haven't shared before:


The church was beautiful that day.


"13th century stone from All Saints Church at Sutton Benger, Wiltshire, England" - in the courtyard of the church. Douglas' aunt was delighted to find this as she has traced a line of their ancestry back to Wiltshire.


My bouquet was made up of pale pink roses, white ranunculus, Queen Anne's lace, and English ivy in a silver tussie-mussie holder.


We said our vows and were married...


...And God has given us two wonderful years together since.
